How do vented soffit boards keep a house cooler?
Vented soffit boards are cement board ceiling panels for eaves with vent holes or grooves built into the sheet. Hot air trapped under the roof flows out through the eaves, so less heat reaches the ceilings below, and less trapped moisture means the roof framing and ceiling last longer.
Types of vented soffit boards
- Capsule vents: rows of capsule-shaped slots, the most common type, in smooth or wood-grain faces.
- Grooved vents: venting along 3-inch grooves, which also gives a slatted timber look.
