Black Film Faced Plywood

Black Film Faced Plywood

Black Film Faced Plywood can be used for various construction work, especially concrete casting

How do you get more reuses from black film-faced plywood formwork?

Black film-faced (phenolic) plywood stops concrete from sticking, makes stripping easy, gives a smoother concrete surface than timber planks, and can be reused. It suits large formwork areas such as slabs and concrete walls. The standard sheet is 4x8 ft (1.22x2.44 m), in thicknesses of 3.2, 4, 6, 10, 15 and 20 mm, for interior or exterior use.

• Frame the sheet edges with timber or angle steel to withstand knocks during assembly and stripping.
• Coat with lacquer, oil paint or form-release agent to reduce absorption of cement water.
• Plan the cutting layout and keep offcuts symmetrical.
• If a sheet starts to swell or delaminate, it has reached the end of its life and should not be reused.
• For curved forms, saw-kerf the surface about 3 kerf-widths wide, then bend gradually.
