Water Mist Fire Extinguishers

Water fire extinguishers hold pressurized clean water and work by cooling — the water absorbs heat from the burning surface until it drops below the ignition point, putting the fire out completely with no reignition. They're designed for Class A fires from ordinary solid fuels like wood, paper, fabric, rubber, and plastics. Because the agent is simply water, they leave no chemical residue, keeping them safe for users and friendly to the environment.

There are two main types: pressurized water, which discharges a solid stream, and water mist, which discharges a fine spray. Water mist units have an edge — they handle both Class A and Class F fires (cooking oils and fats) and their fine droplets also help cut smoke and heat at the scene. Some water mist models are tested safe for use near low-voltage electrical equipment.
