Fire Blanket

A fire blanket is a first-response fire safety device designed to quickly smother small fires without chemicals or water. Made from tightly woven fiberglass fabric rated to roughly 500-550°C — with some models silicone-coated for added durability and oil resistance — it works by covering the flames and cutting off their oxygen supply, extinguishing the fire in seconds.

Fire blankets come in several sizes to match the application. The 1x1 m and 1.2x1.2 m sizes are ideal for home use, handling grease fires on the stove, gas burner flare-ups, and small electrical fires. Larger sizes from 1.8x1.8 m suit restaurants, industrial facilities, and welding or metal-cutting work, and can also be wrapped around the body during an emergency escape. Look for products certified to international standards such as EN 1869 or BS 476, which verify real-world fire resistance and safe performance.

Fire blankets are remarkably simple to use — pull the tabs at the bottom of the wall-mounted case or pouch and the blanket releases ready for action. Unlike fire extinguishers, they require no maintenance or recharging and leave no residue after use. Compact storage options, from hard wall cases to hanging pouches, make them easy to place in kitchens, escape routes, and other high-risk spots as a complement to your fire extinguishers.
