What types of PC wire are there, and how do indented and crimped wire differ?

PC wire is single high-tensile steel wire for prestressed concrete, made by drawing high-carbon wire rod down to size. Diameters are 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 mm, stress-relieved, with tensile grades of 1,470-1,860 MPa. The surface comes in three forms: plain, indented and crimped.

• Indented: long popular in the Thai market; the indents on the surface increase bond with concrete
• Crimped and chevron: added as options in the 1997 TIS revision, giving more than 3 times the bond with concrete of indented wire and less damage during production and transport

Both are used the same way since their mechanical properties are equal. Wire can be produced to TIS, BS, ASTM, JIS and AS/NZS standards.
