Annealing Wire or mostlly called Wire No.18 locally, is used to joint cut and bend steel for beams and poles together.
What is No. 18 tie wire, and where is it used?
Tie wire binds rebar in reinforced concrete work into floor grids, or into beam and column cages, for example stirrups in beams and columns and slab reinforcement. TIS 138-2518 specifies No. 18 wire, with a diameter of 1.25 mm.
It is made by rolling rebar down to a smaller size, then annealing it at around 700 degrees Celsius so the wire is soft enough for tying. The wire is sold in coils and priced by weight. Although a small item, it matters for holding the reinforcement in position as designed before the concrete is poured.
