What are the properties of BS EN 39 scaffold tube, and how is its weight calculated?

Scaffold tube to BS EN 39:2001 in grade S235GT has a yield strength of 235, tensile strength of 340-520 and elongation of 24%. The outside diameter is 48.3 mm, with a wall thickness of 3.2 or 4.0 mm (weighing 3.56 and 4.37 kg/m respectively). To get the weight per piece, use this formula:

(OD - thickness) x thickness x 0.02466 x length = weight per piece (kg)

Permitted tolerances: outside diameter +0.5 mm, thickness -10%, weight -7.5%.

What sizes do steel scaffold planks come in?

Galvanized steel scaffold planks (metal planks) follow EN1004:2004 and BS EN12811-1:2003, with a thickness of 1.1-2.0 mm and lengths of 1,000-4,000 mm. Their cross-section carries load well, and they are easy to install, strip and store, and easy to count.
