How do you install acoustic wall panels with spindle pins?

These acoustic wall panels are made from high-density glass wool wrapped on all sides with glass-fibre fabric, produced to ASTM, TIS 486 and TIS 487, and suit machine rooms, meeting rooms and cinemas. 50 mm panels give a higher NRC than 25 mm panels (for example 0.83 and 0.98 for 50 mm standard and firm grades, against 0.69 for the 25 mm firm grade).

• Mark the spindle pin positions about 30–45 cm apart. On painted concrete walls, scrape the paint off at each pin location.
• Fix the pins with special adhesive, or nail them into gypsum or timber walls, then let the adhesive cure to full load.
• Push the panel onto the pins so they pass through the insulation.

With plastic-head pins, choose a spindle about 10–12 mm longer than the panel thickness (32 mm for 25 mm panels, 57 mm for 50 mm panels). With metal washers, choose about 15–25 mm longer (50 mm and 65 mm respectively).
