Thermal Insulation

What are the properties and forms of glasswool thermal insulation?

Glasswool insulation for roofing comes in rolls and boards, with aluminium foil facing on one side, two sides or fully encapsulated. It meets ASTM and TIS 486 and 487 and can be used in all kinds of buildings. Versions are available for roofs, ceilings, walls, air-duct wrapping and air-duct lining.

• Thermal insulation: low thermal conductivity reduces heat entering the building.
• Noise reduction, such as rain noise on metal roofs.
• Does not spread fire, tested to ASTM E84 and BS476.
• Flexible and recovers after compression, so it keeps its insulating performance.
• Not eaten by termites or powder-post beetles, and does not grow mould.
• With a suitable thickness and vapour barrier, it helps prevent condensation.
