How does steel deck flooring differ from reinforced concrete slab?

Steel deck is cold-formed steel sheet used as the formwork for a concrete slab. It suits multi-storey buildings because it cuts cost and speeds up construction.

Saves consumables: the steel sheet carries the wet concrete itself, with no timber formwork propping needed.
Reduces tension and cracking: after the concrete hardens, the sheet carries tension like reinforcement, so there is no risk of rebar being tied wrongly.
