What is the difference between yellow and white PVC electrical conduit?
Yellow | White | |
|---|---|---|
Installation | Embedded in walls before plastering (TIS 216-2524) | Surface-mounted on walls, popular for extensions and design work |
Advantages | Flat walls that can be painted or wallpapered | White pipe matches the wall without repainting, cold-bends up to 90 degrees with a bending spring, UV resistant |
Standards | TIS 216-2524, Class 1, 2, 3 | JIS C 8430 or BS/IEC 61386 |
uPVC conduit is electrically insulating, so it does not conduct if current leaks. It does not rust or spread fire, is light, and can be used from normal temperature up to 60 °C.
What types of cable trunking and cable management are there?
- Solid trunking and mini trunking: self-extinguishing PVC, for tidying power and telephone cables in interior work.
- Slotted wire duct: side slots let wires exit at any point, used in control panels.
- Spiral wrapping band: bundles control wires inside electrical panels, in white or black.
- Floor duct: rounded edges so trolleys can roll over it, fixed with double-sided tape.
- Telephone cable duct: 1 m and 2 m lengths, fixed with double-sided tape.
