Drywall Joint Tape
Joint tape for gypsum board seams on drywall ceilings and partitions. Bedded into the first coat of joint compound and covered, it ties the joint together and prevents cracks along board edges. For flat joints, inside corners and crack repairs. SCG white joint tape and Gyproc taping accessories.

What is drywall joint tape for?
Joint tape is a reinforcing strip bedded into joint compound so two gypsum boards act as one surface. With compound alone, a joint cracks along the board edge as soon as the framing or board moves slightly; the tape takes that strain.
Uses
- Long and butt joints on drywall ceilings and partitions
- Inside corners between ceiling and wall, and room corners
- Repairing cracks in an existing ceiling before refinishing
- Around access panels and corner bead to stop cracks along the frame
Getting good results
- Apply the first coat of joint compound, press the tape in straight away and smooth out any air
- Apply two more, wider coats, letting each dry
- Sand smooth before priming
- Butt joints have no taper, so feather the compound wider to avoid a ridge
