What is 6 mm gypsum board used for?
6 mm gypsum board is thin enough to bend, so it's used for shaped work: curved ceilings, curved walls, arches and round columns that 9-12 mm board can't follow. The 120x240 cm sheets are screwed to framing bent to the curve, then taped and painted like any gypsum board.

- SCG FlexBoard 6 mm for curved ceilings and walls

Good to know
- Keep to the manufacturer's minimum radius; tight curves may need two layers
- Space the framing closer than for flat ceilings so the curve stays even
- Not for ordinary flat ceilings: thin board sags more than 9 mm
- Tape the joints and apply several thin coats for a smooth curve
